Bathmate pumps are some of the world's best-selling penis enlargement devices and can be used after prostatectomy for penis health and recovery.

The Bathmate Hydroxtreme is easier and more comfortable to use than the Hydromax range. Fill with water, attach the tubing and handball valve pump, and squeeze the handball to expel water. More comfortable than having to push the pump against your pubic bone, which some men find uncomfortable.

Designed for use in the bath or shower, the Bathmate HYDROXTREME5 penis pump uses water rather than air. Water is consistent under pressure, unlike air which creates inconsistent pressure and thus inconsistent results When water (not air) is expelled from the vessel, an even vacuum is created around the entire length and girth of the penis.Put simply, Bathmate gives you optimal safe expansion without any of the negative side effects associated with air pumps, such as bruising, bending and bulging of the penis.

I believe men should receive information on the benefits of using a vacuum pump and have the option of making an informed decision to use one or not. This is being proactive - giving you the best chance of recovery after a prostatectomy, pelvic surgery, or injury.

Research shows that if you stop having regular erections you lose the function and size of your penis. Waiting and seeing if your erections return after a prostatectomy, surgery, or injury is not the best option for success. Using a pump early in your recovery can reduce penis shrinkage, increase blood flow, improve penis health, and promote sexual recovery.

THE BASICS OF USING A VACUUM PUMP AFTER A PROSTATECTOMY:

Used to maintain penile health and improve your chances of regaining sexual function

Start with any of the pumps on my website. Some are better for integrating constriction rings, which help to maintain an erection for intercourse.

Use a vacuum pump to help promote blood supply to the penis, maintain the tissue flexibility and ability of the penis to stretch, and encourage nerve response. We call this penile health.

A pump can be used with erection medication (PDE5s, Viagra etc) which may help speed up sexual recovery after surgery. Speak to your urologist or GP about this medication.

As a general rule, you can start pumping after your catheter has been removed.

Starting later maybe needed if you had post-op complications, have tender scarring, delayed healing, etc. Please speak to your urologist or pelvic floor physiotherapist for their recommendations first.

The pump can be used before sexual intercourse to gain an erection and then (if needed) place a constriction ring around the base of the penis to maintain the erection and prevent blood leaving the penis causing you to lose an erection. Rings work best when there is some natural erectile function. The Vacurect and OSBON pumps work best with and come with constriction rings.

An instruction sheet from the manufacturer is included with the pump, but I also include my own detailed and practical instruction sheet so you feel confident and know how to use the pump best.

The Bathmate is designed to be used in the shower or bath, but it can be used with a basin/bucket underneath to expel the water into. It can also be used just with air.

The Bathmate pump requires you to press the device against your pubic area. This can be uncomfortable for some men and requires a degree of arm and core strength.
